Migrants 5.pngLibya would have left a woman and a child dead who were on board a boat in distress.  This is reported by the Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms publishing on twitter the photos of the two bodies at sea, among the remains of a boat.

The version released by the NGO Proactiva Open Arms, according to which there would have been an omission of relief from the Libyans, “is a fake news”.

 

 

Trump Putin InfamyDonald Trump has backtracked on his claim that he “didn’t see any reason” why Russia would be involved in US election meddling. “In a key sentence in my remarks I said the word ‘would’ instead of ‘wouldn’t’.”Mr Trump was speaking after returning from the Helsinki summit to widespread anger over his performance during a news conference with Vladimir Putin.

Libya Elections UNThe United Nations envoy to Libya briefed the UN Security Council on Monday about the latest developments in the country, urging member states to use pressure on “some parties who are still hindering the efforts to hold elections in the war-torn country.”

 

 

OBAMAFormer US president Barack Obama has used his first high-profile speech since stepping down as US President to say “you have to believe in facts”. Obama made no direct reference to his successor but warned that the “politics of fear and resentment” were spreading across the world.

 

 

Google EUThe EU is set to fine US internet giant Google several billion euros this week for freezing out rivals of its Android mobile phone system, sources said, in a ruling that risks fresh tensions with Washington.  Reports were also confirmed through other outlets like Bloomberg.

The report was published two days before the government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the telecommunications giant to co-operate on 5G, with the possibility of a trial of the technology being introduced to Maltese businesses and citizens in October. Malta Independent
