White morning in Malta

A number of persons from different areas of Malta posted photos of ‘whiteness’ after a brief hail storm hit the island.

The Malta Independenreports that the low temperatures experienced in the last few days this morning led to a hail-storm that hit several parts of the island. The storm lasted a few minutes but was enough to cover most of the roads and cars. The fact that the temperature is a low 6-7 degrees also meant that the icicles did not melt immediately.

The weather forecast for today explains that a depression over the Aegean Sea and Greece extends towards the central Mediterranean but later in the day a ridge of high pressure will move over the central Mediterranean

The wind is expected to be north Northwest force 4 to 5 locally force 5 to 6 becoming force 5 to 6 locally force 6. In the afternoon becoming force 5 to 6 and overnight backing North.

In the morning, the temperature was 6 degrees. It is expected to reach a maximum of 10 degrees.
