German authorities closed production of Wilke Wurstwaren in Twistetal-Berndorf in northern Hesse following two deaths resulting from listeria germs found in pizza salami and boiled sausage by the meat products company. Almost all Wilke products are subject to a worldwide recall campaign.
There are 37 other cases of illness that may be related to the company’s sausage products. The authorities announced a global recall for all of the company’s products except for full canned goods.
