The much-anticipated Phone Refix Championship for Silver category horses is set to reach its thrilling conclusion on Sunday, 29th March, with this year’s final scheduled to start at approximately 4:00 PM. The event will take place at the Malta Equidrome equestrian sports complex and will form part of an exciting race programme for the day.
This year’s edition organised by the Malta Racing Club has attracted a record 114 registered horses, underlining the continued popularity and competitive nature of the Silver Class category. This racing class continues to stand out for its unique blend of talent, bringing together seasoned horses alongside a number of promising newcomers who made their racing debut in Malta earlier this year. This dynamic mix is expected to deliver an unpredictable and captivating final, much anticipated by racing enthusiasts.
Following a series of qualifying stages with 10 heats and 4 semi-finals, the field has been narrowed down to the top 12 horses, who will now compete for championship honours in what promises to be a highly engaging race.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mr Charles Zammit, director of Phone Refix, expressed his satisfaction at continuing to support the championship for the second consecutive year, highlighting the company’s ongoing collaboration with Malta Equidrome. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting local horse racing and extended his best wishes to all finalists.
On behalf of the Malta Racing Club, vice-chairman Mr Tony Demanuele emphasised the significance of the Silver Class championship within the local racing calendar, noting the strong level of participation and the opportunities it provides for emerging horses to compete at a high level. Dr Matthew Brincat, CEO of Malta Equidrome, thanked Phone Refix for their continued support and reiterated the importance of such partnerships in strengthening the sport. He wished all participants the very best ahead of the final.
Mr Max Zammit, CEO of EquestriMalta, also conveyed his support, praising the increasing level of sponsorship and the positive momentum within the horse racing sector. With record participation and a compelling line-up of finalists, this year’s Phone Refix Championship Final is set to deliver an exciting showcase of talent and competition. He also hinted at more new initiatives set to be introduced in the coming weeks.
