UPDATE: 17-month-old girl found after she went missing after father’s car is stolen in London

UPDATE The one-year-old girl whose disappearance sparked a massive police search when her’s father’s car was stolen has been found.

Earlier: British media are reporting the case where police are searching for a 17-month-old girl who was inside her father’s black Audi car when it was stolen in Newham, east London.

The Guardian reported  that Maria Tudorica, a Romanian girl living in the area, was taken in the Audi A5 – registration FY58 UAZ – which was later found abandoned near Hathaway Crescent in east London, without her inside. She was wearing a white top and red bottoms when the car was stolen.

A statement from the Metropolitan police said the incident happened at about 4.37pm on Sunday, when the girl’s father “met with an unknown man in Nine Acres Close, E12, with a view to selling his car. The man jumped into the car and drove away”.

The police said the girl was in the front passenger seat when the car was taken.
