A magnitude 6.4 quake struck northeast of the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

So far there were no immediate report of damage or victims.
The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers, roughly 145 km north-northeast of Buala, a small town on the southeast coast of Santa Isabel Island, the longest island in the Solomon Islands.
