684 people die in one day in the UK

The UK Department of Health daily bulletin makes for some grim reading with 684 people losing their lives to the novel coronavirus throughout Thursday. The total number of people testing positive has now exceeded 38,000, with 3,605 people dying. The number of deaths increased by over a hundred when compared to the previous 24 hours.

However, many health experts around the globe are doubting the true accuracy of the number of infections given the limited number of swabs being taken across the United Kingdom.

Leading Buckingham Palace said in a statement Queen Elizabeth II has recorded a special broadcast to be aired this Sunday. Besides the annual Christmas greeting, this will be only the fourth time in almost 70 years on the throne that the monarch will address the nation. The other three occasions concerned the death of her Mum, the Queen Mother (2002), the death of Princes Diana (1997) and the First Gulf War (1991).

Meanwhile, PM Boris Johnson announced that he will not move out of self-isolation which was due to expire today since he is still experiencing fever.
