Earthquake shakes Piacenza, Italy

An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was registered in Italy on Thursday at 11am.

The epicentre was in Cerignale, in the province of Piacenza, at a depth of 3 km. This was the second tremor in the region this week. On the evening of April 15, at 10.02pm, a magnitude 3.5 shock had been recorded in the same area, with an epicentre in Ferriere.

Rita Nicolini, director of the regional civil protection agency in Emilia-Romagna, told Ansa that at the moment there were no reports of damage or victims, adding that the shock was” short, but rather intense “.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center and the United States Geological Survey indicated that a shock has also been felt near Genoa.
