Satisfaction, gratitude and appeal for togetherness – President Vella’s message to Malta

The President of Malta George Vella expressed his satisfaction on today’s news, that no new Covid-19 cases were reported in Malta.

Dr Vella said that this news follows the news of recent days, were Malta had very small numbers of new cases of COVID-19, today for the first time we had no new cases.=

The President stressed that this does not mean that COVID-19 has stopped effecting us, however the measures taken by the health authorities, and the way in which the general public has so far cooperated, with many personal sacrifices, seem to be working and yielding the desired results.

“The fears of those humanitarian disasters that we have seen happening in our neighboring countries are gradually moving away from us”, the Presidnet added.

He also emphasized the great gratitude that the country should have to all those who have “guided us and looked after our health and that of our loved ones over the past few weeks”, and once again thanked all those, from the youngest to the youngest, for their professional competence and exemplary dedication with which they dedicated themselves to this struggle in the interest of the health of the Maltese and Gozitan people.

He emphasised that the fight against the virus is still ongoing, and the need to show solidarity and togetherness is still needed so that the country will be able together, in the shortest time possible, to leave this ugly episode behind, and work to get our country’s economy back on its feet, and bring our social life back to normal.

In his message, the President also expressed his condolences and thoughts to those who fell victim to this severe disease, their relatives and loved ones that they left behind.
