Photo Story: Maltese Cheesecake on Australian roads

Pastizzi is probably one of the most popular snack on the entire island. The traditional ricotta cheesecake is sold in many  pastizzerias across Malta and Gozo.

Pastizzi are normally made with ricotta, but there are also two other varieties: one made with peas and onions and the other with anchovies. As of late, pastizzi with different fillings could be consumed. These include chicken, meat and also chocolate spread Nutella.

For the Maltese living abroad, the Pastizzi are also a sense of keeping connected to their homeland. Marie Christine, who lives in Australia, spotted a vehicle with ‘Pastiz’ as its nameplate. Whether the owner is Maltese or of Maltese descent, is unknown.
