Morning Headlines (Sunday) – The Malta Independent on Sunday

The Malta Independent says that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is facing pressure from Labour Party MPs to dismiss Minister Konrad Mizzi and Chief of Staff Keith Schembri over damaging accusations of graft from company 17 Black. Meanwhile, the paper says that PN MEP David Casa has written to the German government urging it to investigate Siemens’ role in the Delimara power station agreement, after the corporation’s name surfaced in the latest revelations on the project’s dealings.

Another The Malta Independent story reports that the former director of Gasol, a once-leading partner in the Delimara power station consortium, has been sentenced to 16 years jail in the UK, guilty of laundering €45 million from energy company Afren. Another associate was handed down a 14-year sentence for the same charges.
