The Times quotes Chief Justice Emeritus Vincent de Gaetano who said Malta does not have a completely independent judicial investigation system comparable to other continental jurisdictions. The former Chief Justice was speaking at an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the declaration of human rights.
The Malta Independent asks Health Minister Chris Fearne about more than €6 million spent on direct orders by his ministry in 2017. The Minister said that medical supplies that are still under patent cannot be obtained in another way.

The Times says the Courts ordered the Public Works Commission to suspend a promotion and give it access to all details after a case brought by Joseph Bajada. A deputy director to the public cleansing department since 2006. Bajada felt aggrieved when the position for director was awarded to another candidate who fared better in the selection process.

Another story in L-Orizzont warns about a particular breast implant that is suspected to cause cancer, although no cases have been reported in Malta.
In-Nazzjon reports that a fundraising event by the Nationalist Party yesterday collected over €670,000, bringing the total donations to the party this year to more than €1.5 million. Party leader Adrian Delia said that the funds are critical to prepare for the upcoming MEP and local council elections.
