Armin Loacker, the man behind the success of Loacker wafers, died at the age of 78.

The company was founded in 1925 by his father Alfonso.

Together with his sister Christine, Armin Loacker has developed the company which is now a big player in the sector at an international level. The Loacker, which today has 1,000 employees with a turnover of 330 million euros, is today led by the sons of Armin, Andreas and Martin Loacker, and the nephew Ulrich Zuenelli.

Over time, the family business has evolved from a small Loacker patisserie to a brand known around the world and into over 100 countries.

In addition to the two production plants, one on the Renon above Bolzano and one in the Austrian Tyrol, Loacker also operates seven Loacker Stores.

A total of 876 million items were produced in 2017. 5 tons of toasted hazelnuts are processed every day. On the podium of the countries that consume the most Loacker wafers behind Italy, surprisingly, are Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
