Woman on board stranded MV Alan Kurdi evacuated for medical reasons

The Armed Forces of Malta have evacuated a woman from the ship MV Alan Kurdi. She was evacuated for medical reasons and was brought to Malta on a Maltese boat.

The 64 migrants onboard the NGO vessel ‘Alan Kurdi’ are facing alarming food and water shortages, and the NGO Sea-Eye – which operates the vessel – has asked Malta for food, water and new clothing supplies, saying that these will be needed by Wednesday, The Malta Independent reports.

MaltaToday reports that the European Commission is negotiating with member states for the allocation of rescued men and women from near the Libyan search and rescue zone by the Sea-Eye ship ‘Alan Kurdi’, six days ago.
