Gattuso reveals how the AC Milan players were convinced for Malta’s training camp in 2007

During the presentation of the book ‘From Calciopoli to Pink Floyd’ by Alberto Costa, the Rossoneri coach Gennaro Gattuso revealed a particular anecdote about the winter retreat in Malta that led to the 2007 Champions League.

Gattuso, who is experiencing a difficult moment with Milan, said that “with the excuse that we had made a Maltese sponsorship we ended up in Malta preparing for mid-season preparation, but there was a tremendous wind and it was cold. We were all very pissed off at the doctor for the choice, and after seven days we returned to Milan, to play the Berlusconi Cup and went back to Malta. It helped to form the group. If today a coach does something like that, they would take him for a fool, the players would say that he’s crazy and make sure he’s fired.

We were good in a group, we were together even at night or after lunch, used to stay late together and build the team, but today the boys run away as soon as they finish eating, they go away immediately.”
