Dr Kevin Cutajar co-opted to Parliament

The Executive Committee of the Nationalist Party has voted unanimously to co-opt Dr Kevin Cutajar as a Member of Parliament, following the resignation of David Stellini last week.

The co-option of Dr Cutajar came after a tumultuous week for the Party, the executive committee of which last Saturday voted for Jean Pierre Debono.

The latter relinquished the seat, amidst controversy on the procedure adopted where there were allegations of wrongdoing in the election.

The meeting was presided by Roselyn Borg Knight as the PN executive committee is still to appoint its new president following the resignation of Mark Anthony Sammut, the Malta Independent reports.

Other Gozitan candidates who contested the 2017 election on the 13th district did not submit a nomination.

Dr Cutajar, in 2004, was elected as the first president of the Gozitan Federation for Persons with Disabilities.

He is a lawyer working within in the financial sector.Kevin Cutajar is a senior associate in the corporate and litigation practice areas of the firm. As counsel to various foreign and domestic individual and corporate clients, he has gained significant experience in debt recovery and tax planning techniques.

Kevin has advised on numerous civil and commercial law aspects relating to debt recovery and also the tax benefits available to individuals and companies residing in Malta. He has also been involved in several debt recovery lawsuits, particularly those initiated by one of the major foreign retail banks in Malta.

Became involved in politics to serve and contribute to society. Contested the Local Council elections in Xaghra, in 2007, 2012 and 2015 and was elected on all occasions. In 2013 and in 2014 he respectively contested the general election within the Gozo district and the European Parliament election.

Though not elected, on both occasions he obtained very encouraging results.

In 1996 he was Awarded the Oasi Youth of the Year for his achievements in life despite his disability.
