The Malta Independent says that the European Commission is demanding thagovernment reviews the heavy taxation system on cars imported from the EU since 2009. The letter of formal notice argues that Maltese legislation is not in line with EU law.


The Times reveals that works on the Central Link project are expected to start towards the end of the month, although a permit has not yet been issued. The paper spoke to a farmer who said Infrastructure Malta officials were taking measurements of his farm.


The Malta Independent speaks to Abraham Aquilina, 16, Malta’s youngest local councillor who was elected in Għargħur in May. The PN councillor said that the party needs to work together to come out stronger of its current situation.


The Times quotes an EU report which reveals that three-fourths of those earning below the minimum wage in Malta are women. Malta has the second-highest rate of women earning 90 percent or less of the minimum wage in Europe.


L-Orizzont publishes an interview with geologist Peter Gatt who warned that more buildings could collapse like what happened in Mellieħa last week and Gwadamangia in April. Gatt said rock should be assessed by geologists not architects.


In-Nazzjon publishes a statement by the Association of Local Council after the Mellieħa incident next to a construction site. The Association complained about the lack of enforcement by authorities even when local councils report abuse.


L-Orizzont says that the Commissioner for Persons with Disability Oliver Scicluna described the co-option of Kevin Cutajar to parliament as ‘historic’. Scicluna said that society should believe more the qualities of persons with disabilities.


In-Nazzjon quotes PN leader Adrian Delia who, in an interview on NET FM, said that the party can move forward together if the right structures and the right attitude are in place. Delia said that the party wants to remain the voice of the people.
