Photo Story: The Morandi Bridge demolition in Genova

Thousands of people were evacuated ahead of the demolition works, which started on the day. Experts have blown up the remains of the bridge which partially collapsed on 14 August 2018 killing 43 people. A new viaduct replacing the Morandi bridge is expected to be completed by 2020.
