Germany : Social Democrats mulling wealth tax

Germany’s ailing Social Democrats are mulling a move to push for the introduction of a wealth tax that would be used to fund public infrastructure and climate protection measures, according to the party’s interim leader.

Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, one of the SPD’s three interim leaders, told regional newspaper Rheinische Post on Friday that he envisages levying an extra 1 percent tax on millionaires, billionaires and big corporations.
