Photo Story: Ferryboat catches fire in the Philippines

A handout picture made available by Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) shows the M/V Lite Ferry 16 being docked at a port in Dipolog in Zamboanga del Norte province, Philippines.

According to Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Cebu Station Deputy Commander Alvin Dagalea on 28 August 2019, three passengers were killed and 23 are still missing, on August 27, when a fire broke out in the engine room of a passenger ferry from Cebu as it travelled toward Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

More than 200 passengers of the ill-fated M/V Lite Ferry 16 were rescued.
