Trump’s other picks, like Fox News host Pete Hegseth for defence secretary and former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for intelligence chief, have also raised eyebrows. But it’s Gaetz, known for his hardline tactics and efforts to unseat Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who is making the most headlines.

Gaetz’s history of divisive actions, including bringing a Holocaust denier to the State of the Union and clashing with gun control advocates, has earned him many enemies—even within his own party.
