Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said Monday that Italy would not be ready if Russia or anyone else decided to attack it.
“We are not ready for either a Russian attack or an attack by another nation,” Crosetto said at an event on the recent world tour of the Italian Navy’s Amerigo Vespucci training ship “I’ve been saying this for a long time.
“I think it’s our job to put this country in a position to defend itself if a madman decides to attack us: I don’t say Putin, I say anyone.
“We are not (in this position) because we have not invested in defence any more over the last 20 years, and you can’t make up for 20 years in one year or two years.”
