Former Italian footballer Gianluca Vialli is in Italy together with the Italian National team which this weekend should get the mathematical qualification for Euro 2020.
For a long time there have been discussions about a proposal of the Italian FA President Gabriele Gravina, who offered the post of head delegation to the former player Italy.
According to Repubblica, Vialli has been offered to join the National Team coached by his long-time friend and team mate Roberto Mancini with the role of Head of Delegation.
“Since March I’m doing other treatments. I must be in a physical and mental condition to face this challenge. I hope I can be at the next national rally in November not just as a guest but with a role”, said Vialli.
“We must have patience, it is harder than one could hope for, but the results are positive and it makes no sense for me not to continue to live a normal life. Working is part of this, everything goes in the best way”, said Gianluca Vialli.
The Italia Football Association President Gravina, back in January had asked Vialli to accept the role of head of delegation, but the former footballer and coach took time due to his health situation.
However, in November, during the last Euro 2020 qualifying matches, with the staff and players in Coverciano there is a possibility of seeing Gianluca Vialli.
“I am here officially as an ambassador of the Rome 2020 volunteers, but I imagine that in the coming days we will be able to deepen the role that President Figc Gabriele Gravina offered me. I thank him for having been patient and waiting for me. We will evaluate in the coming days. I must be in physical and mental condition to take on this task. I hope I can be at the next national rally in November not just as a guest but with a role”, said Vialli.
