Photo Story: Spanish authorities tug ‘narco-submarine’ off Spanish coast

A Spanish civil guard officer works next to a crane ship (back) to refloat the ‘narco-submarine’ with difficulties due to weather conditions, off Cangas de Morrazo’s coast in Galicia, northwestern Spain, on the 26 November 2019.

The submarine sank on 24 November off Spanish coast allegedly carrying three tons of cocaine. It sank as police tried to intercept it in the Aldan inlet in the Galicia region at the weekend. It’s believed the crew tried to sink it on purpose.

Two Ecuadorian nationals have been arrested but another person managed to escape.
