Security forces in eastern Saudi Arabia have killed two wanted “terrorists”, the kingdom’s Al Ekhbariya state television reported on Wednesday.
It said the shooting took place during a security operation in the coastal city of Dammam.
Calm was restored to the residential neighbourhood in Dammam after the operation, the broadcaster added.
The shootout took place as police prepared to storm a house in the upmarket residential neighborhood of Al-Anoud, where the two men had been hiding.
Sources in the security services said the terrorists had begun shooting and were killed when security forces returned fire.
