The appointment of the new cabinet by Prime Minister Robert Abela is a radical change from his original position stated in the run up to the Labour Party leadership election held last Saturday when he had stated that there would be no cabinet reshuffle if he was elected.
In fact whilst only a few ministers retained their post, major changes were announced in other portfolios such as Social Accommodation, Local Heritage, Consumer Protection and Animal’s Rights which have been promoted to ministerial levels.
Also worth mentioning is the renaming of the Ministry for Justice and Governance, the consolidation of Environment and Planning into one Ministry and the ommision of Joe Mizzi, Chris Cardona and Anthony Agius Decelis.
