YIOSS (Youth Information One Stop Shop) operated by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ won the ‘Excellence Award in Knowledge of Young People’ during its 35th General Assembly of the European Youth Card Association.
The annual event brings together all member organisation and projects are recognised for the results within the youth sector on a European Level. Agenzija Zghazagh, the national youth agency in Malta aims to mainstream youth related issues and further develop youth services.
This award represents the positive outcome and constant work of YIOSS, following the agency’s participation during the ‘#giveavote’ campaign; were more than 3000 young people received a special edition of the European Youth Card. Moreover this campaign assisted the young people in receiving information relevant to the function of the European Union allowing them to make an informed decision during the MEP elections. This campaign brought on board 2 young EYCA card holders to be the activists of this campaign. Following intensive training the young activists worked hand in hand with YIOSS to put youth oriented plan in action. But this wasn’t enough; another 5 young card holders attended a youth exchange relevant to the #giveavote campaign.
The European Youth Card is packed with tens of thousands of discounts on travel, culture, accommodation, education, services and products in 36 countries across Europe. Plus, in every country there are hundreds of programmes and opportunities for volunteering, learning, employment, entrepreneurship and many other things that help young people along the way.
