Another 65 women allege abuse by Mohamed Al Fayed

Another 65 women have come forward to the BBC with allegations of abuse by Mohamed Al Fayed, with claims dating back to 1977.

Following the airing of the BBC documentary Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods, in which five women accused the billionaire of rape, additional women have shared their experiences of sexual harassment, assault, and rape, according to the broadcaster.

Of the 65 women who have recently come forward, 37 reported that they had worked at Harrods. One woman stated that she was assaulted by the former owner of Harrods and Fulham FC—who passed away last year at the age of 94—in Dubai in 1977, marking the earliest allegation of abuse reported to date.

In a statement to the BBC, Harrods noted, “Since the documentary aired, over 200 individuals have initiated the process to settle claims directly with the business.”
