Luke Micallef has established a new national record on the 10km road race distance, with a superb performance in Bologna, Italy.
The athlete clocked a 29:26 time, on the World Athletics-certified route, placing third in the Italian city, a mere two seconds behind the race winner. This timing, subject to formal ratification, means that Micallef has established a new national record, eclipsing the 29:39, registered by Jordan Gusman in the Gold Coast back in 2022.
Micallef, coached by experienced mentor Ivan Rozhnov, already holds the national record in the 3000m steeplechase.
