British Prime Minister Boris Johnson returned to 10 Downing Street on Sunday, Sky News reported, after spending a week in hospital with COVID-19 and two weeks recovering at his country residence.

The government had previously announced he would be back at work on Monday. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who has been deputising for him in his absence, said Johnson was “raring to go”.

“The prime minister is expected to return to work on Monday and is said to be “raring to go” after recovering from a COVID-19 infection that resulted in him spending three nights in intensive care”, adds Sky News.

His return to Number 10 on Sunday comes as the government faces increasing demand to reveal its exit strategy from the lockdown, with Labour’s new leader Keir Starmer saying “honest conversations” with the public were necessary.

Senior Conservative donors have also placed pressure on the government to relax lockdown measures amid concerns of the damage it is inflicting on the economy.
