Cargo ship “Atlantic Peach” runs aground at Tripoli Port

A freighter carrying the name “Atlantic Peach” ran aground at Tripoli Port Wednesday, the Maritime Affairs Department of Tripoli Maritime Port confirmed on Thursday.

The Marine Affairs Department clarified that crew members were evacuated from the ship at request of the captain due to bad weather conditions, confirming that all are in good health and were transferred to a safe place.

The 139.5-long cargo ship was carrying containers of goods and had 14 crew members on board, the Maritime Affairs Department said, noting that work is underway to put the ship back on course.
