Coalition government talks in Italy underway in PD – M5s – Conte summit

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A summit between the PD and Movimento Cinque Stelle and designate Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is underway with the aim to iron our differences that emerged in the discussions regards the formation of a coalition government.

In comments prior to the meeting, Conte said that Di Maio’s comments were directed to his ‘constituency base’. Di Maio, earlier, had issued an ultimatum about the inclusion of the aims of the M5s in the government’s plan.

PD’s Zingaretti said that there should be no talks ‘under threat’ of any sort.

The original time for the meeting was 0930, however the meeting started later in the day around 1245 (local time).

This is a developing story.
