These are the headlines from Malta’s Newspapers:

The Times quotes a European Commission report estimating a total of €5.2 billion in Maltese funds held offshore. The paper says the figures are the joint highest in the EU in relation to economy size, making up almost half of the country’s GDP.

The Independent leads with directives for teachers instructed by the Union of Professional Educators. The union is accusing the Education Ministry of mistreatment resulting in 20 hours of unpaid overtime work every week.

In-Nazzjon reports that a man with Maltese origins in Australia was planning to carry out terroristic attacks on Islamic communities in Melbourne. Phillip Michael Galea is being held at a psychiatric facility despite his insistence that he has no mental health issues.

L-Orizzont carries a statement by the US embassy in Malta which offered the assistance of the FBI in the probe into Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination. Government said that investigations are ongoing.

The Independent says that operators in the fisheries sector collected nearly 100,000 litres of oil from the feeding systems which have now been sold on for processing. The CEO of the Federation of Aquaculture Products Charlon Gouder said the industry is regulating itself.

L-Orizzont speaks to CEO Alfred Grixti who reveals that the Foundation for Social Wellbeing Services receives several reports of abuse by children on their parents. Another article quotes a man found guilty of sexual relations with a minor who said his only regret is getting caught.

The Times reports on a last-ditch Brexit agreement between the EU and the UK at a leaders’ summit. The House of Commons will now vote on the deal in a special sitting on Saturday with many MPs rejecting the agreement outright.

In-Nazzjon quotes PN Leader Adrian Delia at a European People’s Party summit in Brussels who said that we are now at the ‘moment of truth’ on Brexit. Delia said that the EU has always respected Britain’s referendum result of three years ago.
