Good morning

These are the main stories from Malta’s newspaper front pages.

A man, aged 70, died after fire engulfed hhis apartment in Msida. It is believed that the  cse was caused by a gas heater. The 70 year old Joseph Dimech, was found in the shaft of his apartment by firefighters. (All newspapers).

In another story on The Times we read that Brussels warned that the current economic growth registered by Malta needs to be accompanied by substantial reforms if its to remain sustainble over the long term. The Commission insisted on the need for real progress related to reputational problems connected corruption and money-laundering, shortfalls in skills, labour and education attainment levels and increased investment in infrastructure and the environment.

The Malta Independentreports that the PN government will guarantee everyone has a right to have a roof over their heads. PN leader Adrian Delia was addressing the final ession of the PN General Council. The event is also reported prominently on the front page of In-Nazzjon, which also highlights the comments given by the PN leader.

In another story, The Malta Independent reports that the Health Minsiter confirmed that that according to the information he has, a psychiatrist had indeed intiated the procedure for the involuntary admission of Mario Portelli to Mt Carmel Hospital. Portell, a former policeman who was a star witness in a case related to the HSBC heist court case, recently filmed himself being taken by several police officers sparking controversy, after claiming knowledge related to the ownership of Egrant and the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The Malta Business Wekly reports that the Under Water Cultural Heritage Unit said that eight wrecks, including three aircraft, have been opened for diving activities. In another story we read that Red Rake Gaming is the latest comoany to secure a Malta Gaming Authority license.

L-Orizzont reports that more workers are speaking up about the conditions of their work. In today’s report we read about workers in the security sector.
