Denmark confirms first coronavirus case

Denmark has confirmed its first coronavirus infection in a man who returned from a ski holiday in northern Italy, the Danish health authority said on Thursday.

The man was put in isolation in his own home.

The person is an employee working for Danish broadcaster TV2, the television channel said on its website. He had returned from a vacation in northern Italy on Monday and started showing symptoms on Wednesday. He has now been quarantined in his home in eastern Denmark, TV2 said.

The case will not change the country’s current risk assessment, published on Tuesday, which finds a low risk of a country-wide epidemic, the Danish Health Authority said, but added it expected more cases of infection in Denmark.
