Elon Musk’s social media company X has violated European Union online content regulations, and its blue checkmark misleads users, EU tech regulators have determined. This ruling could result in a substantial fine and major operational changes for the platform.

The European Commission’s charges, the first under the Digital Services Act (DSA), come after a seven-month investigation. The DSA mandates that large online platforms and search engines take greater measures to address illegal content and threats to public security.
