Failure is not the opposite of success, it is a part of success – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Reading Time: 2 minutes

AC Milan Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s presence at the Festival of San Remo came to an end on the final evening of the festival on Saturday. In a monologue about success, Ibrahimovic spoke about the importance of looking at mistakes in life as part of the success.

“Everyone knew Zlatan before the festival. So why did Zlatan come? He came because he enjoys challenges, the adrenaline, to grow. If you don’t challenge yourself, you can’t grow.”

I came because I like challenges, adrenaline and I like to grow Without challenges you cannot grow. When you have a challenge it is like going on the field and, when you ‘re on the pitch you can win or lose. I played 935 games : I won, but not all of them. I won 11 league titles, but I also lost a few. I won many cups, but I also lost a few. I am Zlatan even without having won all the games; I am Zlatan when I win and when I lose.

Falling and getting up was a recurring theme in his monologue: “I scored more than 500 goals, but I also missed a few. Few. A few penalties went wrong, but failure is not the opposite of success, it is a part of success. Doing nothing is the biggest possible mistake.

“If Zlatan makes a mistake, you can make a mistake too . The important thing is to make a difference every day. Commitment, dedication, perseverance, concentration.”

He also thanked Italy, described his second home. I ‘organised’ this Festival to tell you, that each of you, in his own small way, can be Zlatan. You are all Zlatan and I am all of you. This is not my Festival. or Amadeus, but your Festival. The Festival of the whole of Italy. Thank you Italy, my second home
