Fake news triggers migrant protests in Greece

Refugees and migrants protest in front of riot policemen near a refugee camp in the village of Diavata, west of Thessaloniki, in northern Greece, 06 April 2019.

The refugees gathered from camps or rent apartments all over Greece believing a fake rumour which was spread through social media that the borders between Greece and North Macedonia will open for them.

Greek migration authorities try to convince them to return to their accommodations. The refugees are desperate due to the slow flow in the procedure of the examination of their registration.
