“If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace.” – Duchess of Sussex to her father

The Duchess of Sussex wrote a letter to her father after her wedding telling him her heart was “broken into a million pieces” because he gave press interviews, fabricated stories and attacked Prince Harry, according to a report.

In the five-page handwritten note, Meghan is said to have addressed Thomas Markle as “Daddy” and accused him of “unwarranted pain” and “making the choice to not tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand”.

Mr Markle did not attend his daughter’s wedding in Windsor in May after he suffered a heart attack.

In the letter, sent last August, Meghan reportedly complained her father had not called her despite him telling journalists he had informed her he was not coming.

Mr Markle, who lives in Mexico, has told media outlets he has been shunned by his daughter and her husband.

The duchess wrote: “I begged you to accept help – we sent someone to your home…and instead of speaking to me to accept this or any help, you stopped answering your phone and chose to only speak to tabloids.”

She added:”If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace.

“Please stop lying, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband.”

And she went on: “We all rallied around to support and protect you from day one, and this you know. So to hear about the attacks you’ve made at Harry in press, who was nothing but patient, kind, and understanding with you is perhaps the most painful of all.”

The duchess, who is expecting her first child with Harry this spring, reportedly added: “For some reason you choose to continue fabricating these stories, manufacturing this fictitious narrative, and entrenching yourself deeper into this web you’ve spun.”

Meghan also hit out at the “lies” she said were “manufactured by your other daughter [her half-sister Samantha], who I barely know”.

According to extracts published by the Mail on Sunday, the duchess said: “You watched me silently suffer at the hand of her vicious lies, I crumbled inside.”

In his response in September, Mr Markle denied attacking the royals.

He wrote: “When did I attack Harry? The only thing I said is if he had a disagreement, ‘get over it’. We had disagreements and he was protecting you from me but I didn’t feel that I was attacking him??”

He added: “I wish we could get together and take a photo for the whole world to see. If you and Harry don’t like it? Fake it for one photo.”
