DUBLIN (Reuters) – Irish inflation and house price growth both slowed year-on-year, Central Statistics Office data showed, with annual inflation easing for the second month in a row in September to 8.2% and rapid house price growth cooling to 12.2% in August.
While house price inflation has consistently fallen year-on-year since reaching 15.1% in March, a 1.3% rise in prices on a month-on-month basis was the fastest monthly rise in almost a year and marked the third successive month above 1%.
With further gas and electricity price increases set to kick in this month, the finance ministry expects inflation across the economy to peak at 10.4% in the final quarter of this year and then ease gradually to average 7.1% for next year.
