Israel accused of crimes against humanity over forced displacement in Gaza

Human Rights Watch has released a report accusing Israel of engaging in the “deliberate and massive forced displacement” of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, alleging that the use of evacuation orders amounts to crimes against humanity.

The US-based organisation claims to have gathered evidence suggesting “the war crime of forcible transfer” of the civilian population, which it describes as a severe violation of the Geneva Conventions and a crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The report comes amid growing indications that Israel is intensifying efforts to divide the Gaza Strip with a buffer zone, coupled with new infrastructure to support a prolonged military presence. The pace of demolitions and destruction has reportedly increased as part of this strategy.
