Johnson ‘humbled’ after massive election win, says it’s a “new dawn” for the UK

Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave a speech on Friday morning in central London shortly  after a historic electoral win.

He has won this huge majority comparatively speaking, from lots of areas of the country that once voted Labour.

Boris Johnson began his speech by saying “we pulled it off” and “broke the deadlock”. He added “A new dawn rises on a new day”

He paid tribute to colleagues that lost seats but congratulates the party on its biggest majority since 1980s.

The country will now be able to “get Brexit done,” he said, to cheers from the audience. Mr Johnson told supporters: “We will leave the EU on 31 January. No ifs, no buts”.

Johnson also addressed Labour voters who voted Tory saying “to those who “lent” the Conservatives their vote, Mr Johnson said: “Your hand may have quivered over the ballot paper as you put your cross in the Conservative box and you may intend to retrun to Labour the next time around and if that is the case I am humbled that you have put your trust in me and I will not take it for granted”.

Earlier Mr Johnson told staffers at the Tory party’s HQ that “no one can now refute” his “stonking mandate” to deliver Brexit.
