New allegations of corruption hit Gozo Minister and Transport Malta
Former PN MP Jason Azzopardi has filed an urgent court request for a magisterial inquiry into an alleged criminal scheme involving the Gozo Ministry and Transport Malta, implicating Minister Clint Camilleri and his wife. Azzopardi alleges that public sector jobs and mooring spots at Mġarr harbour are being fraudulently distributed in exchange for kickbacks. He also called for the seizure of electronic devices to secure evidence. Transport Malta stated it would fully cooperate with any court-ordered inquiry, while Prime Minister Robert Abela criticised Azzopardi, accusing him of abusing the system and pledging to reform it. Labour will win with wide margin, Abela predicts
Labour Party leader Robert Abela expressed confidence in a strong performance at the 2027 general election during a party event on Sunday morning. Speaking at the PL headquarters in Ħamrun ahead of a fundraising telethon, Abela addressed the party’s recent challenges following the European Parliament and local council elections, where Labour’s majority narrowed to just 8,454 votes. This outcome prompted the replacement of several party officials. “The greatest strength of this party is its fearlessness in embracing change,” Abela said, describing change as “the catalyst for success.” (Newsbook)
