Rosianne Cutajar drops court case against blogger Mark Camilleri

Independent MP Rosianne Cutajar has withdrawn a defamation lawsuit against author and blogger Mark Camilleri just days before her scheduled testimony. In a Friday Facebook post, she stated that her priorities had shifted, deeming the legal dispute no longer “useful and important.” In response, Camilleri declared his refusal to accept the withdrawal and expressed his intention to pursue charges against her in court. Cutajar, a former parliamentary secretary and ex-Labour MP, had initiated the lawsuit in 2021 in response to claims made by Camilleri in his book and on Facebook. (Times of Malta)

MSE grows to over 110 listed companies
The Prime Minister highlighted on Friday that the increased activity on the Malta Stock Exchange, which now hosts over 110 listed companies and approximately 300 financial instruments, and serves as another indicator of the robustness of the Maltese economy. Prime Minister Robert Abela, during his visit to the Malta Stock Exchange, observed that both the number of listed companies and the variety of traded financial instruments have nearly doubled in recent years. Despite global compliance challenges impacting international economies, the Malta Stock Exchange has admitted over 20 new companies to its lists in the last three years, demonstrating resilience and growth. Malta should emphasise quality not quantity – Chamber

Malta Chamber Deputy President Nick Xuereb said that the country should be steered towards an emphasis on quality over quantity. Addressing an economic conference hosted by the Chamber, Xuereb said that critical investment in digitalisation remained imperative for both the private and public sectors and should be actively encouraged, particularly at a time of persistent skills shortage.
