Poll shows PL has 28,000 lead

A poll published by the Sunday Times of Malta, indicates that the Labour Party has a 28,000 vote lead for the upcoming EP elections set for the 8th of June. According to the poll, PN candidate and EP President Roberta Metsola is expected to be the one which will gain most votes, followed by the PL candidate Alex Agius Saliba. Their vote numbers are significantly high, compared to the rest of the candidates. According to the poll, the 6 EP seats will be shared equally by the two main parties.

Worker dead as roof collapse in Sliema construction site

Tragedy struck on Saturday morning in Sliema as a roof collapse at a property resulted in the death of one worker, while another was rushed to the hospital. The incident occurred at around 9.50 am on St Ignatius Street. The 31-year-old worker managed to escape the collapsed area, but the 51-year-old worker remained trapped under the rubble. Despite a frantic rescue effort, he was found dead about an hour later. According to the BCA, tThe construction works on a Sliema house which claimed the life of one worker and landed a second in hospital were still awaiting a permit. (Times of Malta)

More EV charging points planned – PM

Prime Minister Robert Abela has revealed the Government’s intention to expand the network of vehicle charging points nationwide. This move is part of a broader initiative aimed at encouraging consumers to transition to electric vehicles. Speaking at the Michael Debono Ltd showroom during an event marking the 60-year partnership between the Maltese car importer and Toyota, Abela noted a 7% surge in registrations of environmentally friendly vehicles in recent months, attributing this growth to successful Government incentives. EP asks BA to halt directive limiting coverage of Metsola
The European Parliament Office in Malta has formally requested the Broadcasting Authority to halt the implementation of a directive that imposes limitations on reporting concerning its president, Roberta Metsola. The Nationalist Party condemned the directive, which it described as shameful and an attempt to stifle Metsola’s work. The EP and the Nationalist Party were reacting to a directive by the BA which stipulated that “any reporting or any information from the European Parliament or any report which has to do with the President of the European Parliament needs to be reported with caution”. (The Malta Independent)
