Malta’s First Online Terror Recruitment Conviction
An Ivorian national, 33-year-old Mouhamadou Dosso, was sentenced to ten years in prison in Malta’s first conviction for online terrorist recruitment. Police traced extremist propaganda and communications to Dosso’s social media accounts following a 2024 investigation. A raid on his Ħamrun home uncovered phones with messages urging people to join the “jihad” and images of explosives and ISIS propaganda. Inspector Mohammed Shurrab said Dosso targeted vulnerable individuals across Europe, promising paradise for suicide missions. Dosso admitted to terrorism charges in July 2025, and the Criminal Court upheld a joint plea agreement for a decade-long sentence. (Maltatoday)

Opposition Urges More Ambitious Malta Vision 2050
A Nationalist Party delegation met Economy Minister Silvio Schembri to discuss Malta Vision 2050, calling for a plan focused on people’s wellbeing and quality of life. The PN said the vision must go beyond final objectives to provide clear direction for a sustainable and inclusive future. Deputy Leader Alex Perici Calascione stressed the need for national consensus, describing the document as “about the future of all Maltese.” The party, which had been granted an extension to the consultation period, said its proposals acknowledged positive aspects of the government’s plan while offering constructive improvements. The PN emphasised that Malta’s long-term strategy should aim for quality over quantity and tangible benefits for citizens. (Times of Malta)
