Government Unveils Plans to Rehabilitate Comino’s Blue Lagoon The government on announced a major rehabilitation project for Comino’s Blue Lagoon. Plans include enlarging the swimming area by 20%—approximately 40 metres in length—removing kiosks from the main shoreline, and safeguarding the natural environment. Covering 55,400 sqm, nearly all work will occur on degraded land to minimise environmental impact, while 35,000 sqm of garigue areas will be restored. The swimming zone expansion will add 5,600 sqm, and the existing toilet block will be replaced with an information centre for Team Blue Lagoon on the Natura 2000 site. The initiative, presented by the Malta Tourism Authority in collaboration with Team Blue Lagoon and Mizzi Studio, aims to balance visitor experience with environmental protection. (Maltatoday)
