A man has been shot dead by armed police after two people were stabbed during a terror attack in south London.
A man who helped one of the victims told Sky News how he helped one of the three people injured in the Streatham terror attack, saying he was “bleeding out in a pool of blood”.
The Metropolitan police said that the case took place in Streatham.
The condition of the injured and the motive behind the stabbings were not immediately clear.
Images on social media showed the body of a man lying on the pavement outside a pharmacy on Streatham High Road, while at least two officers pointed guns at him.
“The circumstances are being assessed; the incident has been declared as terrorist-related,” the Met said in a tweet.
Later the Met Police said: “We believe there are two injured victims. We await updates on their conditions. The scene has been fully contained. We will issue more information when possible.”
Shocked people enjoying a relaxed Sunday on the Streatham High Road were evacuated from their homes, restaurants and a cinema.
Sky news reports that photos appear to show the man wearing something resembling a suicide vest.
The station’s home affairs correspondent Mark White said: “Police say that a number of people have been stabbed. I was told perhaps as many as three people have been stabbed. No exact confirmation on the numbers.”
“The man shot by police officers we understand has died although, that has not been confirmed by the police at this stage.
