Massive Crackdown on Illegal Streaming Across Italy and Seven Other Countries

In a groundbreaking operation led by Italian authorities, the “Taken Down” initiative has dismantled the largest transnational criminal network involved in illegal audiovisual streaming. Coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office in Catania, this operation targeted a network serving over 22 million users illicitly across Europe.

Over 270 officers from Italy’s postal police carried out 89 searches in 15 Italian regions. In coordination with law enforcement agencies from the UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania, and Croatia, an additional 14 raids were conducted.

The investigation targeted 102 individuals, with Croatian authorities issuing arrest warrants for 11 suspects. This marks the most extensive anti-piracy operation in both Italy and Europe, striking a major blow against illegal streaming services.
