More than 200 lawsuits and many judicial setbacks in Trump’s first 100 days

In the first 100 days of his second term, President Donald Trump has faced significant legal challenges, with over 200 lawsuits filed and more than 70 judicial rulings impeding key policy initiatives. These lawsuits encompass a broad range of issues, including mass deportations under the Alien Enemies Act, efforts to restrict birthright citizenship, and cuts to federal funding in areas such as clean energy, public health, and academic research.

Courts have issued at least 19 rulings slowing Trump’s immigration agenda and temporarily halted enforcement of his birthright citizenship executive order, which seeks to deny citizenship to children born in the U.S. without at least one parent being a citizen or lawful resident. Judges also blocked attempts to freeze or claw back federal funding, though Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, has had some success.

Additionally, judicial orders have delayed enforcement of Trump’s bans on transgender military service and DEI programs, and blocked controversial executive orders targeting prominent law firms. Lastly, the administration faces at least seven lawsuits for imposing international tariffs without congressional approval.

Many of these rulings are under appeal and await further decisions from higher courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
